Eligibility Criteria
Age Limit
- JRF: Maximum age is 30 years as of 1st June 2025.
Relaxation of up to 5 years is applicable for OBC-NCL, SC, ST, PwD, Third Gender, and female applicants. - Assistant Professor & Ph.D. Admission: No upper age limit.
Educational Qualification
(a) General/EWS Candidates: Minimum 55% marks in Master’s Degree (without rounding off) in relevant disciplines from UGC-recognized institutions.
(b) OBC (Non-Creamy Layer)/SC/ST/PwD/Third Gender Candidates: Minimum 50% marks in Master’s Degree (without rounding off).
(c) Candidates Pursuing Master’s Degree: Those in the final year or awaiting results are eligible to apply provisionally.
(d) 4-Year/8-Semester Bachelor’s Degree Holders:
- Must have at least 75% aggregate marks or equivalent grade.
- Eligible for JRF and Ph.D. admission, but not for Assistant Professor roles based on undergraduate qualification alone.
(e) Final Year Bachelor’s Candidates (4-Year Program):
- Eligible to apply provisionally.
- Must fulfill the UGC Ph.D. admission regulations within the required time frame to retain eligibility.
(f) Subject Flexibility: Candidates with a four-year degree may choose any subject for the NET in which they wish to pursue a Ph.D.
