About Gunotsav

Gunotsav is an initiative launched by the Government of Assam in 2017 to assess and enhance the educational performance of students at the elementary and secondary levels. The program identifies learning gaps and implements necessary remedial measures. It serves as an accountability framework aimed at improving educational quality, focusing on learning outcomes, co-scholastic activities, and the utilization of resources, including community involvement.

Gunotsav evaluates schools based on four core areas:

  • Scholastic (Learning outcomes of students)
  • Co-scholastic
  • Infrastructure
  • Community participation

Schools receive grades (A+, A, B, C, or D) based on performance, with 90% weightage for Scholastic assessments and 5% each for the remaining three categories. The evaluation helps in identifying areas for improvement to ensure students achieve grade-specific learning outcomes.
